I evaluated the Backwoods Select cigars independently because they stand apart from the standard Backwoods lineup. These cigars boast premium wrappers sourced from Guatemala, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Each one presented a distinct flavor profile, setting them apart. Impressively, I enjoyed all of them, with the Pennsylvania Primo standing out the most due to its strong, robust tobacco flavor that’s deep and earthy—a quality I particularly value. Nonetheless, I gave them all a good rating; keep reading to see why, and let me know in the comments below if you agree or disagree! You can also check out my reviews and ratings on all the traditional Backwoods Flavors here. As for Select, here is how I rated them…

Pennsylvania Primo Backwoods Select

When you fire up a Pennsylvania Primo, you’re in for a pleasant experience! This bold blend has a strong, robust tobacco flavor that lingers long after the smoke clears. This cigarillo is perfect for those who seek an intense, full-bodied smoking experience!  So, if bold flavors are your game, this one’s a clear winner. ★★★★★

Connecticut Special Backwoods Select

Connecticut Special is the smooth talker of the bunch. Based on my recent experience, this option had a gentle, refined flavor, perfect for those laid-back days when you just want to unwind. The subtle, sophisticated notes are like a whisper compared to the shout of other cigars, which I appreciate when I’m in the mood for something mellow. ★★★★★

Guatemala Satin Backwoods Select

This is the smoothest, most exotic-tasting Backwoods cigar I have ever smoked. Made with a premium-cut Guatemalan leaf wrapper, these mild-bodied Woods were easy to roll and easy to smoke! At the same time, I really appreciated the earthy, spicy undertones! So, if you’re like me and enjoy deep yet smooth, authentic flavors, this one is definitely for you! ★★★★★

Where to Buy Backwoods Select Cigars

You can easily order your favorite Backwoods cigar flavors online at Bluegrass Tobacco, America’s leading discount smoke shop. Our inventory includes all Backwoods flavors and package options, excluding single packs. I personally prefer the 8-pack box with five cigars per pack, but we also offer 10-packs of 3 and a 24-count box. Whether I work here or not, I’d still choose Bluegrass for my cigars due to the lower prices, discreet nationwide shipping, and guaranteed freshness, thanks to our temperature and humidity-controlled facility in Newport, Kentucky.

About Backwoods Cigars

Introduced in 1973, Backwoods cigars are famous for their rustic appearance, featuring a frayed end, tapered body, and unfinished head. Altadis USA Inc., a subsidiary of Imperial Brands, produces these machine-made cigars using all-natural tobacco leaves for both the wrapper and filler. This gives them a distinctive, aromatic flavor that echoes traditional cheroots. Popular for casual smoking and often used to create blunts, Backwoods cigars are available in various flavors, including Honey Berry, Original, and Sweet Aromatic. Their natural, rugged style and broad flavor selection have made them a staple for smokers who enjoy an authentic, unrefined smoking experience.
